In the design industry, generally when designing there's a need for filler contnet. In the typography and copy world, we have what's known as "Ipsums", shorthand for the most famous filler text, Lorem Ipsum, latin filler text. There's plenty of ipsum generators today on the internet to generate generic copy. For web imagery, designers generally have less of a set filler imagery, as blank boxes or too abstract of art may not accurately test against possibilies of real photography. There's plenty of ways to approach this, non-truly correct, usually the safest being non-offensive stock photography (which has the danger of the client liking filler photography) or something somewhat irreverant like cat photos.
